Once A Week Keep Your Own Block, February 2014
The Once A Week Keep Your Own Block is now up and ready! Remember, this is the first block for February and is a fairly easy block. Next week, the block will be a little harder and so on. The blocks might be of different sizes depending on the patterns. This one is 12 inches but can easily be made into a smaller size, if you want to. The colors are up to you. Most of the blocks will be from quilterscache.com.
The block is the Scot’s Plaid and you can find it at: http://www.quilterscache.com/S/ScotsPlaidBlock.html.
Please remember to post a picture when you are done to the group. See you soon!
Once A Week Keep Your Own Block #4
Hello again!
It’s time for the final block for January, our advanced block. This is called Friendship Star Variation and can be found at http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FriendshipStarVariationBlock.html. This is a very pretty block and measures 12.5 inches. I will be posting pictures of my block later today.
Thanks for playing along and we would love to see your creations so please continue to post pictures and update the database when you are done. Remember you have the whole month of January to finish and if you find that a block is too difficult, you can always pass. You can also print the patterns and save for a rainy day but I think it is more fun as a group to see if we can keep up with the challenge.
Check back on Saturday, Feb 1 for the first block of the month!
Once A Week Keep Your Own Block #3
Hello and welcome back to week 3 of our challenge. We are going with the friendship theme for January and the block this week is called Friendly Hand. This is yet another variation of the Friendship Star and can be found at: http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FriendlyHandBlock.html. This makes a 12 inch block and is very pretty.

I will be posting the final block for January on Saturday, Jan 25.
Once A Week Keep Your Own Block Challenge #2
Hello and Welcome back!
I am posting a little early so we can all have a little more time to play! We seem to be going with a theme for January, different types of Friendship blocks and I hope that will bring us closer not only as a group of quilters but as friends. This block looks easy but is just a little bit harder and we have to watch our triangle placement, but what a great way to use up stash! Remember, it is a 12 inch block and you can use whatever colors you prefer. If you want to make it smaller, please do so. Remember, most of the blocks will be coming from Quilters Cache.
The second block is ready and can be found at: http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FriendshipScrapBlock.html. Enjoy and don’t forget to post a picture at the database! See you soon.
ONCE A WEEK KEEP YOUR OWN BLOCK, BLOCK #1
ONCE A WEEK KEEP YOUR OWN BLOCK
Do you love challenges? Are you one of those who is always first to get everything done? Would you like to learn new techniques? This is for you!
This is a Keep Your Own Block that involves no swapping whatsoever and is for those who love a good challenge. The rules are simple:
There will be 4 blocks posted each month on every Sunday morning. The first block will be an easy block, second block a little harder, third block will be advanced and the fourth block will be a challenge block. If there are 5 Sundays in a month, I will post a Bonus Block. In order to make this work, I am giving a deadline of 1 week to finish one block and the current month to finish all 4 blocks. The challenge is to see if we can keep up with the blocks and is FOR THOSE WHO SIGN UP! The blocks will vary from pieced to applique and maybe a few new ideas.
The blocks can be made in your own choice of colors. You can make a quilt or other project if you wish but these are designed to test our skills and help us in the art of quilting. If you feel that the block for that week is too challenging or if you want to save the pattern for another time, please feel free to do so.
If you want to participate please post below this message with your name. All I ask is that if you do participate that you post a picture of the block when finished. Remember, this is Keep Your Own Block, no swapping involved and no Quilt Police. I look forward to seeing your creations!
Call Me Crazy Quilter!
Good Morning!
It is lovely and humid here today in the Valley and I plan to do some more sewing on my Postage Stamp quilt before going to work today. I plan to go through my large bin of half square triangles and cut them down to size, that is 1.5 x 1.5 so that I can start on my pinwheels. Each row will be separated by a 1.5 inch strip of red alternating with pinwheels. I still have a long way to go but it’s fun and easy to do!
Come on, I know there are others besides me who have left over triangles from various projects! I reuse them in different projects as I am seriously a scrappy person.
Here is the first segment, followed by more and then down to the end. There are supposed to be 42 four patch squares but I must have miscounted on a couple as they are short by a couple of blocks. No big problem, just add on. I measured it on my bed and it has plenty of length and overhang to make a good sized quilt. The final picture is my box of leftover half-square triangles.
Have a great day!
