BUST THE BITS AND PIECES PARTY 2025

MARCH 27, 2025Is your stash starting to expand and invading other areas than your sewing studio?  Then it is time to ask a few questions:Are your muffin bins topped and about to explode at any minute?
Do you feel overwhelmed? Not sure how to use it or what to do with it, and almost to the point of giving it away?
I feel that way too, at times!  Not to worry! I believe I have a cure for this common ailment.  Come on, we all have made some type of resolution, right?

Each Thursday I will find some ideas and patterns to use up some of the scraps and even some helpful hints to declutter, and control our stash.

Today, let’s explore some fun and maybe new to you, spring patterns!

From Missouri Star Quilts, how about a fun Hoppy Easter Table Runner.

MARCH 20, 2025

Oops!  I thought it was still Wednesday! Is your stash starting to expand and invading other areas than your sewing studio?  Then it is time to ask a few questions:Are your muffin bins topped and about to explode at any minute?
Do you feel overwhelmed? Not sure how to use it or what to do with it, and almost to the point of giving it away?
I feel that way too, at times!  Not to worry! I believe I have a cure for this common ailment.  Come on, we all have made some type of resolution, right?

Each Thursday I will find some ideas and patterns to use up some of the scraps and even some helpful hints to declutter, and control our stash.  It is still chilly outside, so this is the perfect time to get comfy in your studio and maybe take inventory.  I have been doing that for the past couple of weeks and can you believe that I have added to my UFO list rather than marking them off!  I guess I need to sew faster!

Let’s look at deciding on what needs to be done now.  I mean some of the oldies but goodies that are older than my grandkids!

Let’s look at Karen Brown’s video on This Old Quilt Top for inspiration to spur us on to a finish!

1.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMJGmhTyR7w

Or is it time to rethink that old top and do something different?  From Epida Studios, How Do I Finish My Quilt Top, different ideas.

And from Pat Sloan, What are the Top 4 reasons why your quilt isn’t finished.

SCRAPPY QUILTERS’ NEWS UPDATE

Hello Everyone

There are a few changes coming up here with our group, and the first one is that I will be stepping down as moderator of this wonderful group. Karen and Cheryl will be in charge of taking care of business here such as taking over the swaps and activities for me, but I plan to continue to participate in activities and relax a little. I have full confidence in them as they have been my right hand for several years and always there when needed. If you have any questions, please let Karen or Cheryl know, or me.

I am retiring but will still be the owner. I have been managing our group since 1989, give or take a couple of years, and I am feeling a little overwhelmed with health issues, and my own growing stack of UFOs. We will still continue to do the Bust The Bits and Pieces Party every Thursday and also continue to do the UFO Challenge every month.

Thank you for a wonderful journey with such talented and creative people.— feeling blessed.

It’s time for a New Discussion on Quilting

Do you quilt it yourself? What method do you use, FMQ, edge-to-edge, FMQ, rulers or what other method?

Do you send your quilts out for someone to finish?

Or do you take your flimsy to the guild and they finish it?

How many flimsies do you have waiting in the wings? How many are sandwiched and ready to be quilted?

I will go ahead and start. If it is for a special person or it is too large for me to handle, say queen to king sized, I will send it out to be quilted.

I like to edge-to-edge on my embroidery machine, but I also do FMQ especially on smaller projects.

Flimsies, I have 6 flimsies waiting in the wings. None are sandwiched yet.

Please feel free to comment below.
