HIDDEN TREASURES!

A DIFFERENT VERSION

September 20, 2025

The original version no longer available as I found that I just don’t like that pattern, or even the colors. Over the past summer while making baby and children quilts, I decided I really love playing with fun prints.

So, yesterday, I was playing with some leftover fabric and I decided to cut as much as I could into 2.5 inch strips. I was looking for the Potato Chip pattern as this uses it, and I had a hard time finding it, but I came across my old folder called Hidden Treasures and there it was! I looked at it and decided it needed an update on the colors, though I might still do it but in blue batiks later on. But since I made so many children’s quilt this summer, I decided to make it a little more scrappy with those prints! I think that some child will love it!

Here is a preview. My stack of what I am working with.

And the first two blocks.

They are so fast to make and very addictive! PLUS! What a great way to use up those novelty prints! I think these will make a wonderful eye spy quilt!

I will post more tomorrow!

MY TOWN, AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, HISTORY

My therapy quilt is finally finished. When I first started this top, about 4 years ago, it was just going to be a simple wall hanging with 3 rows of houses. Nice, cute, sweet. But it wasn’t my best work. So it sat and marinated for a few years and finally, back in March (?) I started playing with it as I really wanted to get it done.

I started out thinking I can dress it up by adding some embellishments so I could cover up my obvious mistakes and that was okay for a while but not very happy with it. I then got the idea of adding iron-on appliques onto it and figured WHY NOT? So I threw into the mix some dinosaurs, different planets, a rooster and other fun things. Hence the name, An Alternate Universe.

Please feel free to look a little more closely at it. You may or may not get some of it and honestly, some of it is just to cover up some mistakes. For instance on the bottom row, there is a rooster on top of a chicken coop (sorry not very artistic in drawing). He has a question mark over his head. Look down and there are 2 dinosaurs fighting and then there is a huge dinosaur egg rolling out of the chicken coop. Use your imagination and enjoy.

Note: The swirls are part of the quilting but it was not easy as my needle kept breaking. Just think of it as part of the ambiance. Have fun and remember this is just for fun.
