Update on Sad News

My report is that the storm came, has blown away and now a rainbow has taken its place!  There may still be some pain but prayers take that away.  Praise God for all his blessings in the midst of sorrow!

Update from  Thursday, June 24 to now

We did manage to get Jenny (Kathy’s identical twin) to fly out for a few days as I really feel that they needed each other right now and am looking forward to seeing her.  Jenny lives in Michigan.  My sister and dad are coming down tomorrow for a visit and with the exception of my other sister who lives in Canada, this will be the first time we’ve been together for a long time.

We had a blast on Thursday!  Kathy wasn’t up to going anywhere for lunch, much less moving around very much at all.  My sister and Dad came in from Placerville and we had lunch at Kathy’s house.  Jenny was so good with her sister, she took care of her and did most of the cleaning for the visit.  My job was to make a nice big salad, get some shrimp (didn’t realize it was frozen and didn’t thaw out in time for lunch, DUH!) and went to Salazar’s and picked up a small platter of mini burritos, quesadillas, etc.  I made some ice tea and Jenny made lemonade and we  had such a good time visiting.  An (Kathy’s hubby) wasn’t able to be there as he had to work.  Later, An’s parents came over and took little Sam to their house so he could play with his cousins.

You should’ve seen Jenny and Kathy together, they are in contact constantly, it seems, and trying to get a word in edgewise is almost impossible!  So, we sat back and watched the show.  Even Doug (my hubby) was quiet, which just isn’t normal for him!  LOL!!  We took a lot of pictures and then took turns looking at pictures from everyone’s camera cards on the computer! Here are some pictures:

Sad News

This is a summary of what has happened over this past week.  Thank you for your patience.

Sunday, June 20

My daughter Kathy is in the Emergency Room at Saint Agnes Hospital at the moment.  Apparently, she went to the bathroom and some blood in her pee.  She is about 2-3 months pregnant and we’re praying that it is nothing serious!  This happened about 1.5 hours ago.  I don’t even want to think of what it might be.

She has cramping and some back pain, and right now, I can’t think of anything but this.  She is in an exam room waiting to be seen, so thank God that she got in quickly.  Just asking for prayers that she will be fine.

Monday, June 21

I just talked to Kathy and she has an appt today.  She didn’t sleep very well last night (or anyone) and is still spotting when she pees.  The doctor thinks that the baby may not be very strong and that’s why she’s been spotting.   We’ll wait and see what her OB says.  Continued prayers please.

I’m so upset right now, I can barely think straight.  Kathy just called in tears and told me that the baby is in the process of miscarrying.  Her hormone levels should be going up, around 1000, and it’s only 100.  The baby just isn’t strong enough to survive.  She will have some more lab work done and not sure what is happening right at the moment as it was hard to understand her on the phone!

They did an ultrasound and since she was early in the pregnancy, all they could see were mostly blood clots.   The doctor believes that the baby must’ve had either something wrong or wasn’t implanted in the placenta or uterus properly, and that it would probably not survive.

This is really hard on all of us at the moment, so I won’t be on as much for a while as I feel I need to be there for her at this time.  Thank you for understanding, your support and prayers!  She will call us with more information later.

One bad thing turned into 3 good surprises!

WOW!!

What a morning this has been.  And to think it all started with my computer not wanting to work.  At ALL!  So, I call my DD and asked if her hubby could come over and help me.  An sent Kathy over with the CD and I tried that but nothing happened.  So, I wasn’t able to work as I don’t have a backup computer.

While she was here, she informed me that she thought she might be pregnant!  Imagine my surprise at the news and a little shocked!  Actually I was more preoccupied with the computer and as they were going to the doctor’s anyway, I thought it could wait.  So, I continued to try to get the computer worked, but not really too upset about it.  I called my supervisor and told her what was going on with it and asked about the training.  Melissa (supervisor) told me that since they only train 3 days a week and it’s mandatory, to just go ahead and finish up on Tuesday and then I would be let loose to work.  So, I’m now EMPLOYED by Breitner and am very happy.  They like my work and how well I’m coming along so I will (as of the end of Tuesday) be a permanent employee!  WOOHOO!

After talking to Melissa, my daughter calls and tells me that she is definitely pregnant, so more good NEWS!!  But still the computer does not want to work.  An came over a while ago and checked it out for me and found out that the driver wasn’t reading the hard drive, so he reconfigured it and played with the BIOS and now all is right with the world again!

So, now I’m counting my blessings!  First, but not most important is that I have a son-in-law who works magic with computers and I am up and running again!  Second, I have a new job and I really feel good and comfortable with them!  And most importantly, you can call me GRANDMA again for the 3rd time!

Didn’t mean to go on and on but it was worth it, huh!!

PS:  I’m hoping for a girl this time!

Hello

Hello and welcome  back to my little blog!  I know, I know, I haven’t posted much in the past year or so, but life gets ahead of you and before you know it, you’re asking where did the time go?  In my case, no clue except it has been a pretty good ride so far.

Where to start?  Hmm, I guess I will go from the present and work my way backwards.  The newest thing in my life is a brand new job!  Yes, I resigned from MedQuist back in February as I felt I was being bullied into quitting.  And, it’s the best thing I ever did!  There are a lot of disgruntled employees who are leaving and now looking for better positions.  I am now with Chronicle Transcripts which seems to be a pretty good company so far.  Hey, it’s only my 4th day there!    lol!  Will let you know more as I continue with them.  By the way, if you’re wondering what type of work I’m doing, I’m a MLS (medical language specialist).  I’m one of the millions out there that transcribe and edit medical reports for patient’s charts.  I work from home, downloading jobs from a platform, sit  listend and type whatever the doctor says and then it gets sent back to them for their records.  I’ve been doing this for 8 years now and really love my work!

On Mother’s Day we drove up to my sister’s house in Camino.  By we, that’s Doug, Kathy, An, Sam and myself!  Can you believe it, Sam is almost 2 and a half years old!  WOW!!  If you go to my videos, there is one with Sam and the Mulch Pile.  My sister had some trees made into mulch recently and  of course, Sam found it!  It’s really cute!  There’s also another video from Father’s Day when Sam was just a few months old.  That was 2 years ago.  Turn your speakers on loud!  Mom was there in her wheelchair (advanced Alzheimer’s) and did well with Dad there taking care of her.  This was a whole new adventure for Sam as he had never been in the mountains before.  He loved it and we all had a great visit.  My daughter Kathy gave me a beautiful azalea plant and Doug bought me some Janet Evanovich books.  I gave my mother a nice silk plant with some bright flowers for her room.  This way, no watering just a little dusting now and then.  I also got some nice cards.  Not sure yet what to do for Father’s Day.

We had planned on going to Placerville for Easter but the weather was so bad and we were ill, so we stayed home and had a nice dinner.  As for the other holidays, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc.  I will stop as I really don’t remember much and it has been so long ago.  I think we will start moving forward now and see what’s new!

Vacation

Hello and Welcome back!

I know, I know, I keep saying that I am going to update my blog and I haven’t done it for so long!  I can’t say that it has been for a lack of nothing to say but just life keeps getting in the way of things!  Where do I start?

I guess good news is always best, so here goes!  We finally paid off the mortgage on our house, the car and the roof loan!  WOO HOO!  We just got the pink slip for the car about a week or 2 ago, and are still waiting for the paperwork from CalVet to go through, and then we have to file the deed, transfer insurance, etc.  We are waiting for the closing packet to arrive to help walk us through the final steps!  After 25 years of paying it off, we can now actually afford to fix this place up without a payment looming overhead!  Our first project is to install new windows in the house, and insulation.  So tired of being cold or HOT because of that!  I can hardly wait for it to happen!

I had my vacation over the Easter week and spent a few days with my sister and Dad.  Dad picked me up at my house on his way home from visiting some friends and family over the weekend.   Mom came from the skilled nursing facility for lunch on Monday and she was so much more interactive than she had been in a long time!  She is actually feeding herself, tries to join in a little bit and was in a pretty good mood most of the time.  Considering that she has endstage Alzheimer’s and is wheelchair bound, I think she is doing remarkably well!  On Tuesday we went to Red Hawk Casino and my sister talked me into getting a Rewards card.  It starts you off with $10 of free play and you earn points off it every time you gamble and win.  Or something like that.  Anyway, on my first 15 minutes of play I had won $35. on a nickel slot machine.  Did I keep it and stop?  NO!  I went ahead and lost it!  Oh well, I had set aside a little just for that, so no real loss there.  Candis and I then went to a little pub in Camino and had dinner there which was really nummy!  We played a lot of Wii and had a great time.  Candis has the music Wii and I found out that I have a “talent” for conducting.  Good thing since I sucked at everything else.  I have no eye hand coordination whatsoever and poor eyesight to top it off  LOL!!  I came back by Amtrak on Wednesday and the train was fairly crowded for a week day.  Might have been cuz of the vacation.

I started to do some sewing on Thursday but came down with a sick headache where I felt dizzy, nauseated and just yucky for the next 4 days.  What a way to spend vacation time.  Monday afternoon, Kathy and I went to Zena’s Spa and had a luxurious time there!  She had the seaweed wrap.  She wanted to get rid of some cellulite since having Sam.  Come on, she is 5’7″ and weighs 108 pounds!  What cellulite?  I had the deep tissue massage that lasted for an hour and didn’t want it to end!  I was so relaxed and comfy and DID NOT want to move!  By the way, I scheduled another one for next month since I am worth it!

Oh, can’t forget about Tuesday!  That was so much fun.  NOT!!  About a week ago, Doug broke a tooth and he had an appt to get it extracted on Tuesday. Well, I had already made plans to visit a friend in Clovis (we live in Fresno, 20 minute drive) in the morning and then I had appts that afternoon in Clovis.  Doug’s appt was at 10 am, and knowing us, we were at least half hour early.  I figured he would do his paperwork, wait a while and then I could pick him up at about 11 as that usually lasts a while.  So, off I go and since I was early, I went to the Post Office and then visited my friend.  She gave me some lovely Sunflower material on a blue checked background and she wanted me to make her a bag to store plastic bags in, and the rest I could keep.  I made an order for some Jafra that I really like and we sat and chatted for a while.  Well, it was close to 11, so I said my goodbyes and went to pick up Doug, thinking I would probably have to wait for a bit.  Nope, there he was waiting for me.  Apparently, they took him in early and he was done at about 1015!   He said not to worry that I was early and he had found a friend and they were talking while waiting for me.  So, I took him home, took care of a few things before going back out to Clovis yet again.  Actually that was okay as Dr, Amanda Reeve is my favorite doctor!  She is a petite blonde who is full of positive feeling, energy and friendliness that I really look forward to seeing her.

 And so ended my vacation!
