Recently the San Joaquin Valley Quilt Guild took a chartered bus trip to Livermore for a quilt show! Here are some amazing and beautiful quilts that were on display! Hope you enjoy them!
ONCE A WEEK, KEEP YOUR OWN BLOCK, MAY #4
The block of the week is called Mock Logs! Imagine the fun you can have with the colors! Here is the link: http://www.quilterscache.com/M/MockLogsBlock.html.

BUST THE BITS AND PIECES PARTY
Starts May 15, 2015
You’re invited to a party! No swapping involved.
What type of party? A Bust the Bits & Pieces Party!
Do I need to bring something? Just your charms and noodles and other scraps.
Where? At your own home.
When? Starting May 15, 2015
Why? I love scraps but this is getting a little ridiculous. I want to use up my bits and pieces and I have enough to make at least 10 quilts, in various sizes! Please tell me I am not the only one out there with this issue!
Starting this month I will be posting a few patterns designed to help us bust our bits and pieces and create something useful and beautiful. The patterns will be easy and fast to make. The patterns could be a tote bag, pot holders, small quilts, table runners, etc.
No time limit and no obligation, just a chance to use up our scraps! I hope
you will join me.
If you have a pattern to share, this is the place! Please make sure that they are free patterns with just a LINK. We cannot post or add files that have the pattern, that is a violation of copyright law. PLEASE, JUST THE LINK ONLY!
Thank you!

I’M BACK!
Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Easter and/or Passover yesterday! I celebrated the period of Lent (not Catholic) by giving up a few things and I was actually successful this year. In addition to giving up coffee, chocolate, and potatoes, I also gave up buying fabric, patterns, or quilt books. Yes, I did it and I did not buy any during that time. I wanted to see if I could do it as a personal challenge for myself and another reason, I have WAY TOO MUCH STASH! Then again, it doesn’t hurt that just before Lent started, I did go to all 3 local quilt shops and bought about $80 worth at each store. 🙂
The funny thing is that even though I gave up the chocolate is that I had my first piece yesterday, it didn’t taste as good as I thought it would. Same with the coffee and potatoes. I don’t really miss them. Well, actually, I do miss my coffee but I got used to drinking hot tea instead. I do feel better from it and have lost a little weight from it. As for the fabric and books, yes, I really did miss those and am ready to go shopping again! LOL! Also, it doesn’t hurt that one of the LQS is going out of business and will be closing their doors this month for good. I have to and want to look around and shop! At least as a reward for being so good during Lent!
Sew FUN!
Look what Hubby Doug made me! It’s a ironing board cradle to keep my fabric and tops off the floor while ironing. Saw this in Nancy Notion’s for $79 and we made it for under $20! What a clever hubby I have! Now my fabric will stay clean off the floor from kitty hair and dust! SEW HAPPY!
It is 54 inches long and 38 inches in height. I just used some sunflower fabric, about 2.5 yards and if I want to, I can make several more covers to match the seasons! Only took about 3 hours altogether with sewing and sawing time!

Almost Caught Up or Tangled Up
Try as hard as I could today, I just couldn’t get everything that needed to be done, done and the rest of this week is going to be crazy. Not only did my daughter come home from Michigan with her family, today is my Dad’s 89th birthday, and mine is this coming Saturday, followed by next Saturday being our anniversary. I have so many things going on this week that I will be lucky to get any sewing done, but I will do the best that I can! Thankfully, I am caught up, finally, with all my other swap commitments on other groups and just have to drop them in the mail tomorrow. Hopefully, by the the 22nd, I will have finished the mystery top.
Since the 21st is a special day, I have taken a 5 day holiday from my work and plan to spend most of my time (with the exception of my anniversary date) sewing. Would anyone like to join me for a retreat then?
Time for bed and will chat tomorrow!
