What a week!!!!! Don’t you just love it when you get the run around with medical people? Went to Kaiser trying to get info for power of attorney and other papers, no, we can’t print that. No, we don’t do that here, and no helpful advice on where to find it! No suggestions, just I don’t know. ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!! Now that I have had my little rant, here is an update on Doug.

Doug is doing a little better each day, but still has weakness in his left hand. He has to think and concentrate to make it work. He can walk okay for a short distance but still wobbles a little and is in a wheelchair. He is still considered a fall risk at the moment but they are sure that he can use a walker soon. He tires easily too. Not sure, but they are thinking of discharging him next week. I will be talking with his doctor this morning. Honestly, I think he needs at least one more week just to get used to therapy and his new diet. He is very stubborn and determined to get home and believes that once he is home that he can do all the stuff that he did before. He gets confused easily still but that is improving also. He is a strong man and he will make it, but he needs to give his body a chance to heal first.
If he comes home too early I worry about him trying to get up, falling and hurting himself or me in the process and nobody wants that to happen. Or worse yet, a relapse. His blood sugar is still high and he has been vomiting. Need to ask doctor about meds as maybe he has an allergy or something. I also worry about my own stress as I have epilepsy. Need I say more? I have my own health issues and I will be his primary caregiver when he gets home. I have a lot of work to do before he comes home including moving furniture around so it’s not in the way, figuring out our new diets, therapy and nutrition counseling, etc. Prayers are needed that I can get this done.

Hello Everyone. Just an update on Doug. We transferred him to acute rehab this morning and got him checked in. He starts physical therapy tomorrow. He will be there for 2 weeks possibly 3 depending on his progress. He is a little disoriented, upset, frustrated, tired and wants to come home but knows that he is not able to right now. He is very stubborn, which is a good thing, but is trying to get out of there already and it’s only been half a day!!

He is not allowed to get up out of bed on his own yet and needs a wheelchair for now, and will be progressing to a walker soon. His left side is still weak but he is better than he was on Saturday. He would love to have visitors but between the hours of 2-8 p.m. He has therapy in the mornings. No children under the age of 12 are allowed in the room but there is a large grassy area where the kids can play outside and he can go out for a bit. Please no outside food for him, but you can visit and have lunch or dinner with him in the dining room. No pictures allowed in the facility due to HIPAA protocol.

Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Donna. My hubby and I are retired. We have twin daughters and are blessed with 4 grandchildren. We are owned by a cat, Purrl. who loves to supervise and is very nosy. I have been quilting since 1996. In addition to making quilts for my family and friends, I also make charity quilts for Marjoree Mason Center and Valley Children’s Hospital. Marjoree Mason Center is a local organization here that helps and supports battered and abused women and children get out of abusive relationships. Every Christmas I make several baby quilts for the women, with a small stuffed animal or toy. I also belong to the San Joaquin Valley Quilters’ Guild here in Fresno. Since I retired, I have been trying to finish most of my UFOs, but my stash is way out of control! I have lately gotten into designing quilts and enjoy that even more than sewing them! I love colors of all types and consider myself to be a true scrappy quilter and I do love playing with designs.
