Being a Servant of Jesus
Luke 10: 38-42, The Living Bible
“As Jesus and his disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem they came to the village of where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat on the floor, listening to Jesus as He talked.
But Martha was the jittery type, and was worrying over the big dinner she was preparing.
She came to Jesus and said, “Sir, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
But the Lord said to her, “Martha, dear friend, you are so upset over all these details! There is really only one thing worth being concened about–and I won’t take it away from her!”
Hospitality is a wonderful gift but sometimes we get caught up in it that we miss out on what He is saying to us. Our lives get so busy that we forget what we are supposed to be doing, listening to Him and obeying Him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Forgive me for becoming deaf to what you have to say! This world is full of distractions that the evil one creates, so I am asking for You to whisper in my ear or even shout it to get my attention! Lead me out of what the world has to offer, as it is nothing compared to what You have waiting for me in Heaven! Pull me away from the edge lest I fall away! I do not want to leave You!
Convict my heart, cleanse my heart and heal my heart! Keep me in Your inner circle by reading, studying and doing Your Holy Word! Remind me that my mission is to reach out to those in need of You and to offer them Your gift of salvation! PRAISE YOUR HOLY NAME ABOVE ALL OTHERS! HALLEJUAH! Amen!
