Welcome to Scrappy Quilters’ 2025 Quilt Along!
PLEASE READ:
ATTENTION: Due to an ongoing illness that I am having a hard time recovering from, this quilt will be on hold until further notice. Thank you for understanding. My apologies.
Why is it called Turnaround? We are going to make some fun blocks but we are going to turn them on their ear, so to speak. Think about when you see a simple block, such as King’s Crown. It is basically a set of the same 4 pieces to make the Flying Geese blocks put together. But what if we take those Flying Geese and NOT make the King’ s Crown, and instead turn the geese upside down.
Watch this video to see how to put together the King’s Crown:
Now using the flying geese as a separate block, see what happens:
You have a totally different block to work with. These will be the cornerstones of our quiltalong!

We are going to take apart some of the more common blocks as we go along and create something different. I hope you will join us as we explore and experiment with more ideas with blocks. Kickoff date is January 15, 2025 and fabric requirements will be available then along with the first and second blocks and their directions.
Just to let everyone know, there is no registration required for the sewalong. All patterns are free from FB and youtube.com and can be found there. All I ask is that you drop a comment now and then and let me know what you think or if you have any ideas to share.
Thank you!
MERRY CHRISTMAS and an early gift to pique your interest further, here is a picture of the quilt:

The blocks can be done in either 12 or 9 inches and directions will be posted on January 15, 2025. We should have the top together by March 14, 2025 as it goes together fairly quickly!
See you soon.
January 15, 2025
Good morning everyone!
As promised here is a list of fabric requirements. This quilt will measure 38 x 38 square when put together. You can then add a border around it if you wish.
Here are my fabric choices. Yes, they are different from the EQ8 coloring, and even though I do like those colors of red, green, yellow and white background, what I had in my stash didn’t really make those colors POP for me. I decided to go with some fun colors instead. I am using some grunge fabric with a fun fish fabric that goes together so nicely.
These are my primary colors that I want to use for the blocks. But notice that there are ladder blocks and I thought that using some different bright colors would make those little square in the ladder pop, and also with the center block, Mosaic, the little diamonds will also pop!

Primary Grunge fabrics with the fish fabric as a focus.

And here are the fabric requirements:
I still need to cut my fabric and this weekend I will post my blocks.
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS:
The first block is called King’s Crown. Now if you look closely it is the upside version of the flying geese with a ladder attached. It may look a little complicated at first, but when it is broken down into smaller parts, it goes together fairly easily. You will need to make 4 of these. Here are the instructions and once I have mine put together I will post step-by-step directions to help if you need it.
I realized that I had uploaded the 5 inch version of the blocks. My apologies, they should be 12.5 inches unfinished. There are 2 pages, so please make sure to download both. I have been down with a head cold for the past few days and have it partially cut out. Thank you for your patience.
My apologies to everyone waiting for the blocks. I have been down with a terrible cold and have not been up to sewing for the past week or so. Thank you for understanding.
