Today has been one of those days that no matter how hard you try, nothing goes right. Here’s my story. Hubby and I went out early this morning, had breakfast at Taco Bell, killing a little time before the bank opened. Payday and time to pay the bills once again. So, we go up to the bank and we’re still a little early. By the way, and this is important to the story, I inherited my Dad’s Buick Lucerne luxury car. Very fancy, so fancy that I’m still figuring out how to set the clock! It’s an older model but in excellent condition. I was trying to figure out how to set the clock and Doug (DH) started the car. Or least he tried to. He tried it again, deader than a door nail. The battery was dead. We were not planning for this to happen, but it did. I go into the bank, do our banking and he tried it just one more time, for good luck. NOTHING!
We called AAA to come and take care of the car and get it jumped. We were on hold for 10 minutes and waited another 20 minutes for the mechanic to arrive. It was close to 10 am and we had been in the parking lot since before 9 am. And it’s starting to warm up outside, supposed to be around 99 today. Bank opens earlier and we thought okay, make a run for it, go to the store, get the groceries and run a few other errands. DID NOT HAPPEN! While we were waiting I looked through the car manual and you’ll never guess what I found out, the battery is not in the front of the car, but under the back seat of the car! Had never heard of it, but then again, our other car is 14 years old and isn’t super fancy. Doug didn’t believe me, he had to actually go and look for himself, and there it was under the back seat!
Okay, the car gets a jump and we find out that the battery is over 6 years old and is low on voltage. We had asked for them to bring a new battery as that would give us additional coverage from AAA for up to 3 years, no charge. NO! They were out of stock on the battery and didn’t have any to bring out. The car is now charged and we head home. Actually to Pep Boys which is next door to our house. We sit and wait to hear that it’s ready. That takes over 2 hours of waiting. The car is in the bay, waiting for the battery, a simple 10 minute procedure. GUESS WHAT! They had one battery in stock and some fool dropped, yes DROPPED, the battery and it’s no longer any good. We live in Fresno and they had to call out to Clovis, 30 minutes from us, to get a replacement battery.
Doug and I decided that we were hungry and that maybe the car would be ready when we got home. I had decided to go to Kiki’s Quilt Shack and take a class. I have been drooling over this class for weeks. It’s called Broomhilda’s Bakery and is of course, Halloween theme, and I love Halloween fabric. This class was $350. for applique, embellishments and etc. So, I’m ready to go and pay for the class. I DID NOT know that there were hidden fees as they weren’t mentioned in the c;lass description. In addition to the kit, the cost of the class, there was the pattern book with CD and embellishments which brought the cost up over $500. for a 5-day class. Way too much money for me and I cannot afford that and wound up not taking the class after all. I signed up for a free motion class for $25. All I need is a pen, notebook and a top to work on. They provide the machines to work on and they show you how to do FMQ. I’m looking forward to doing that as I really need help with that.
The Buick is now back in the driveway and ready to go again. What a day! Very expensive day but well worth it!
